12" tall 7" round head
This Udu needs to be tuned just as Djembe on the top, yet can be played as Udu on the bottom.
The origin of the Kim Kim Udu drum lies in Nigeria, where members of the Hausa and Ibo tribes discovered the extraordinary sound of these earthenware instruments with two openings. "Udu" in the Ibo language means "pot".
This drum headed with goat skin and poly rope.
Beautiful to hold and touch, calming and soothing to the eye the Udu pot can take you to a meditative state, producing feelings of peace and well being.
The pot can easily be adapted for Indian Tabla techniques, by use of the palms, fingertips, fingernails, flicking and tapping.
Self-expression is easily achieved through exploring the endless possibilities of sound and rhythm. |
